1973 Volkswagen Beetle 1303 | York, North Yorkshire

A 1973 Volkswagen Beetle 1303, the Super Beetle version of the small, round-bodied saloon that defined everyday motoring in the 1960s and 1970s. The 1303 is easy to pick out by its curved windscreen, which earlier Beetles did not have. Its air-cooled engine sits at the back, and it has a sound all of its own. This car is orange with a black interior, a bold body colour against a plain cabin. The 1300cc engine, the rounded two-door shape and the period colour give it a clear 1970s character, and it is in excellent condition. There is room for five. In front of a camera it suits 1970s film and television work, where the rounded shape and period colour set the decade at once. Fashion and editorial photographers get a strong block of orange against any backdrop, and events gain a car that draws a smile. Weddings and personal hires suit its cheerful look too. It is based in York, North Yorkshire.
