1971 Volkswagen Beetle | London

A 1971 Volkswagen Beetle, the rounded, rear-engined small car that became part of everyday life across the 1960s and 1970s. It is known for its friendly shape and its air-cooled engine at the back. The shape also had a screen life through Herbie, the fictional Beetle of The Love Bug. This car is finished in Orange with a Cream interior, a warm pairing that stands out against grey London streets and brings colour to a plain studio set. Under the rear lid sits a 1200cc air-cooled engine. The windows are the larger ones introduced in 1965, so the cabin shows clearly from outside and gives a bright, open view for interior shots. Advertising, photography and fashion and editorial shoots benefit from the Orange bodywork, which holds a frame without help. Music videos and 1970s-set film and TV gain from its period shape, and events from its cheerful, rounded look. It also makes a warm choice for weddings and personal hires. The car is based in London.
