About this vehicle
1953 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith | York, North Yorkshire
The Silver Wraith was the first model Rolls-Royce announced after the Second World War. It was built at Crewe as a chassis for independent coachbuilders, so each car has its own body and period character. The model is liked for its formal, stately presence and an unhurried ride. This one is cream with black wings, a two-tone finish that gives the long bodywork clean lines in front of a camera. Inside, red leather and polished wood veneers set a 1950s mood, and the cabin seats four. The 4600cc engine runs very quietly. The automatic gearbox, an option on the model from 1952, keeps the ride smooth. The car is in excellent condition. The tall chrome radiator, with the Spirit of Ecstasy above it, suits period film and TV drama and advertising work set in the post-war years. The cream, black and red palette gives photographers and fashion and editorial teams strong colour contrast. Weddings and milestone celebrations are a good fit too. The car is based in York, North Yorkshire.
