1984 Volkswagen Golf | Northampton, Northamptonshire

A 1984 Volkswagen Golf, the compact hatchback that helped set the template for the small European family car and is still liked for its clean lines and easy manners. This car is red with a beige interior, a warm pairing that suits the decade. It has a 1.8-litre petrol engine and is in excellent condition, so it stands up to close-up work. It seats four, and the light cabin gives interior shots a soft backdrop. The upright, boxy shape sits firmly in the 1980s, which suits period film and TV, advertising and photography. The red bodywork gives music video and fashion and editorial shoots a strong block of colour against brick, concrete or open countryside. For events, it makes a relaxed, low-key arrival. Weddings and personal hires are covered too. The car is based in Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire.
