1963 Volkswagen Beetle | Southwell, Nottinghamshire

The Volkswagen Beetle is a small, round-bodied car with its air-cooled engine at the back, known and liked for its friendly shape and easy, unfussy character. This one is a 1963 car with the 1.2-litre engine, the same model year as Disney's fictional Herbie. This Beetle is finished in blue with a beige interior, a pale and calm cabin that sits well against the paintwork. It is in excellent condition and seats four. As a 1963 car it predates the larger windows introduced in 1965, so the glasshouse is smaller and the side profile has a distinctly early look. That rounded body and neat glass area suit 1960s-set film and television, where the shape places the era at once. Photographers and fashion and editorial teams get simple curves and a compact car that leaves room for the location in shot. Music videos and events benefit from the same friendly face. Weddings and personal hires are welcome too. The car is based in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire.
