1956 Volkswagen Beetle | London

A 1956 Volkswagen Beetle, the rounded, rear-engined, air-cooled small car that stayed in one familiar shape for decades. It is liked for its friendly face and its part in 1960s counter-culture, advertising and cinema. Herbie, the pearl-white Love Bug, was a Beetle too. This car is blue with a blue interior, a single colour that keeps its curves clean in a frame. It is left-hand drive: the driver sits on the kerb side, so the front passenger steps out on the road side. It also gives the car a continental look. Period film and television work suits its mid-century lines. The small, rounded body gives a music video, a fashion or editorial shoot or a brand campaign a friendly vintage character, and its compact size is easy to place against an event backdrop. It also makes a charming wedding or personal hire. The car is based in London.
