1974 Volkswagen Beetle | Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan

A 1974 Volkswagen Beetle, the rounded, rear-engined small car that went from people's-car beginnings to the 1960s counter-culture, advertising and the cinema screen. Its air-cooled engine sits at the back, and the short, softly curved bonnet gives it a friendly face. This car is Cream with a Blue interior, a soft, period pairing that reads warmly in daylight. The 1300 engine suits its easy, unhurried character, and the generous glass area of a later Beetle gives clear views in and out, which helps when a camera rides inside. Advertising, fashion and editorial shoots can set the pale body and rounded lines against colourful or muted backdrops. Film, TV and music video work set in the 1970s or earlier gets the right silhouette, and events gain a cheerful arrival car. It also suits a wedding or birthday. The car is based in Cardiff, in the Vale of Glamorgan.
