About this vehicle
1953 Ford Pop | Burgess Hill, West Sussex
The Ford Pop was Ford's budget saloon of 1950s Britain, a plain, upright little car built to be affordable. Its spare cabin and simple lines read as everyday post-war motoring, and from the late 1950s it became a favourite with British hot-rodders. This 1953 car is finished in Gold with a Cream interior, a soft, warm pairing against period backdrops. It runs a 3.5-litre engine in place of the 1,172cc side-valve unit the model started with, and an automatic gearbox, which is not what a Pop normally had. It seats two. The upright body and small footprint suit 1950s film and TV scenes, where it passes for an ordinary British saloon of its day. Gold paint and cream trim photograph warmly for fashion and editorial work, music videos and advertising, and the compact shape sits easily at events and displays. A wedding arrival or birthday outing works too. The car is based in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.
