1976 Austin Mini 1000 | Hook, Hampshire

A 1976 Austin Mini 1000, the small British city car with its engine mounted across the front and the drive going to the front wheels. It is liked for its compact rounded body and distinctive handling. Mr Bean's Mini on screen was a 1977 Mini 1000, the same model. This car is red with a brown interior, a warm pairing against a 1970s backdrop. Its 998cc engine gives it the light, small-scale character the Mini is known for. The short, upright body leaves plenty of room in shot for the location around it. In front of a camera it suits advertising, fashion and editorial shoots, music videos and 1970s-set film and TV: the rounded shape reads clearly as period, and the small footprint fits narrow streets and tight locations. Weddings and personal hires work well too. The car is based in Hook, Surrey.
