About this vehicle
1967 Volkswagen Variant (Squareback) | Lincoln, Lincolnshire
The Volkswagen Variant, sold in the United States as the Squareback, was the estate version of the Type 3. It is an air-cooled, rear-engined family car from the 1960s, built as a roomier, better-appointed companion to the Beetle. Its engine is a low, flat design, which leaves luggage space above it as well as under the front bonnet. This car is green with a beige interior, a soft, period pairing that suits brick, countryside and pastel set dressing. The 1600cc engine sits at the back, and the long, squared-off roofline gives a distinctive estate profile from the side. It seats four, and the two luggage areas leave room for props, wardrobe or hampers. That shape and colouring suit advertising, photography, and fashion or editorial shoots, where a 1960s family estate adds a less familiar silhouette than the Beetle. Film and TV productions can use it for period scenes, and music videos and events can carry kit in its two luggage areas. Weddings and personal hires get a relaxed, vintage way to arrive. The car is based in Lincoln, Lincolnshire.
