1973 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia | Tenby, Pembrokeshire

The Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is a Beetle-based 2+2 with Italian styling, liked for its low, smooth lines and its familiar air-cooled Volkswagen mechanics. Its panels were shaped by hand at the coachbuilder, so the body has a sculpted finish the Beetle underneath never had. This 1973 car is painted green with a black interior, a restrained pairing that leaves the curves of the body to do the work. The dark cabin gives a clean contrast through the windows, which helps for interior shots and for passengers in frame. The shape suits photography and fashion and editorial shoots, where the flowing panels and green paint pick up light well. It also fits advertising, and film and TV work set in the 1970s, because the look is clearly of its period. Music videos and events gain a compact, stylish car with plenty of character. Weddings and personal hires are well served too, with a calm, elegant arrival. The car is based in Ely, Pembrokeshire.
