About this vehicle
1990 Rover 416 GSi | Leyland, Lancashire
A 1990 Rover 416 GSi, the higher-specification 1.6-litre version of the R8 Rover 400 saloon. It came out of Rover's partnership with Honda: Honda engineering underneath, with a rear body and glasshouse drawn up for Rover. The result was a front-wheel-drive family saloon with a distinctly British character. This car is white with a grey interior, in excellent condition. It is a pre-production example and the oldest surviving 400, a detail that gives it a story on set. Its automatic gearbox, less usual than the manual in this model, keeps the car smooth when it moves slowly through a shot. It suits period street scenes and photography that need an everyday early-1990s British family saloon, and productions looking for a Rover from the Honda era. Plain white paintwork and ordinary saloon lines let it sit naturally in the background of a frame. A low-key wedding arrival is possible too. The car is based in Leyland, Lancashire.
