1972 Morris Mini Clubman estate | Manchester

A 1972 Morris Mini Clubman estate: a compact estate body with the squared-off Clubman nose. The model arrived in 1969 to replace the Countryman and Traveller, and it is known for its chrome-framed imitation-wood side trim and a more grown-up 1970s look than the standard Mini. This car is white with a black interior, a clean pairing that lets the Clubman face and side trim read clearly on camera. Its 998cc engine works with an automatic gearbox, which is unusual in a small classic and means there is no clutch to manage on a long shoot day. The estate body gives it a practical, working-family profile in shot. That shape suits advertising, photography and fashion and editorial work, and film, TV and music video set in 1970s Britain. A wedding or personal hire gets an informal, characterful car. The car is based in Manchester.
