About this vehicle
1964 Mercedes-Benz Fintail | Derby, Derbyshire
The Mercedes-Benz Fintail is a formal German saloon, liked for its upright cabin, broad windows and restrained rear fins. Mercedes called the fins Peilstege, or bearing bars, because they helped a driver judge the back of the car when reversing. In German the fins are known as Heckflosse. This car is green with a deep, glossy finish, set against a beige interior that keeps the cabin light and open. The chrome and the vintage upholstery are in excellent condition, and the car seats four. On a 1960s film or television set, or in an advert, the upright body and fins place the scene in period Europe. Fashion and editorial photographers get green paint against pale trim, and the large glass area shows the cabin from outside. Events gain a formal arrival, and a wedding does too. The car is based in Derby, Derbyshire.
