About this vehicle
1957 Ford Thunderbird | Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen, Carmarthenshire
The mid-1950s Thunderbird began as Ford's answer to the Corvette, a two-seat V8 roadster sold as a comfortable personal car rather than a raw racer. Round headlamps, modest tailfins and an exhaust that exits through the bumpers give it a clean, period American look. This 1957 car is White with a Blue interior, in very good condition. It has a 5.1-litre V8, plus a detachable hardtop and a fabric hood that folds away, so it can be shot open or closed. It is left-hand drive: the driver sits on the kerb side, and the front passenger steps out on the road side. White paintwork against blue trim reads cleanly on camera, which suits 1950s-set film and TV, advertising and photography. With the hood down, both occupants are in clear view for fashion, editorial and music video work. Weddings and anniversaries are a brief fit for arrival portraits. The car is based in Carmarthenshire.
