1997 Ford Escort Cabriolet | Manchester

A 1997 Ford Escort Cabriolet, the open-top version of Ford's 1990s family hatchback. Its 1995 update brought new headlights, an oval grille and a redesigned dashboard, and Ford sold the car in large numbers. Everyday Escort sense sits underneath a folding roof. This car is finished in purple inside and out, one bold colour that fills the frame. It has a 1600cc petrol engine, seats five and is in good condition. With the roof folded, the people inside are in clear view, and the clean body lines leave the colour to do the work. That suits film and TV set in the 1990s, where the period shape and Britpop-era colour sit comfortably, and music videos that want a high-contrast look. Photographers and fashion and editorial teams get a saturated backdrop that stands out against Manchester streets and country greenery alike. It also gives a wedding or personal hire a colourful, relaxed alternative. The car is based in Manchester.
