About this vehicle
1979 Fiat 131 Super Mirafiorio Panorama 1600TC | Brighton & Hove, East Sussex
A 1979 Fiat 131 Super Mirafiorio Panorama 1600TC, the estate version of Fiat's rear-wheel-drive family saloon. In Italy the model is a familiar face on screen, turning up in the comedy Bianco, Rosso e Verdone. Its sharp-edged, boxy lines make it read as an ordinary car of its day. This car is white with a blue interior and is in excellent condition. The Super Mirafiori trim brings deep velour upholstery and a glovebox that opens sideways, details that show well in close-ups. Large rectangular headlamps and a 1978-style grille give the front its period face. It is left-hand drive: the driver sits on the kerb side, the front passenger steps out into the road, and the car has a continental look on set. The 1600 twin-cam engine covers 0-60mph in about 11.3 seconds, enough for driving shots. Film and TV productions set around the turn of the 1980s get a believable Italian family estate, and its generous glass lets a camera see passengers clearly from outside. In Britain it makes a change from the usual Cortinas and Cavaliers. Its angular shape also suits photography, fashion shoots and retro-themed events, and it carries a wedding party or a birthday outing with some Italian character. It is based in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex.
