About this vehicle
1990 Volkswagen MK1 Golf Convertible | Osleston and Thurvaston, Derbyshire
The Golf Convertible is the Karmann-built open version of the first-generation Golf, and it stayed in production after the hatchback had been replaced. It keeps the compact, upright Mk1 proportions, with a fabric hood that folds away to leave the cabin open. A 1990 car sits in the final years of that run. This one is red with a black interior, a clean, strong pairing that holds its own against greenery, brick or a city street. With the hood down, the cabin is open to the lens, and its four seats give room for a small group in shot. The plain late-1980s lines read clearly as period. The red bodywork and open top suit advertising, photography, fashion and editorial shoots and music videos, while the familiar Mk1 profile places film and TV scenes set in the late 1980s or early 1990s. Events and weddings are well served too. The car is based in Derby, Derbyshire.
