About this vehicle
1988 Evante Mk1 | Duffield, Derbyshire
The Evante Mk1 is a British two-seat roadster, built in Spalding as a modernised take on the Lotus Elan. It keeps the Elan's shape and electrically operated pop-up headlights, with a new steel backbone chassis and its own twin-cam engine beneath. Motor Sport's 1988 road test praised it for relaxed high-speed cruising. This 1988 car is red with a grey interior, in excellent condition. Its 1.7-litre engine reflects the larger capacity introduced that year. The body is low and compact, so it sits neatly in frame, and with the headlights raised the front end has a clear 1980s character. Photography and fashion or editorial work gain strong colour in frame from the red paint against the grey cabin. Film, TV and music video productions can use it as a less familiar British sports car of the 1980s, and at events it works as a display piece. It also makes a small, characterful wedding arrival or personal hire. The car is based in Duffield, Derbyshire.
