About this vehicle
1970 Citroën Type H VAN | Frant, East Sussex
A 1970 Citroën Type H van, the front-wheel-drive French workhorse known for its corrugated body and tall, flat-floored interior. Its ribbed panels drew on aircraft construction, and French police used it under the nickname panier à salade. Many survivors now work as food trucks. This one is grey inside and out, in near concours condition with only tiny flaws. A side hatch opens in the body and sits so flush that it disappears when closed, and counters are fitted inside and out. It is left-hand drive: the driver sits on the kerb side and the front passenger steps out on the road side. On camera, the grey ribbed body reads as post-war France, which suits period film and TV, photography and music video. The counters and hatch give brands and events a ready-made pop-up for activations, while the tall flat panels make a clean backdrop for fashion and editorial shoots. It also makes a characterful wedding arrival. The van is based in Frant, Kent.
