About this vehicle
1960 BMW R50 | Boxford, Suffolk
A 1960 BMW R50, the 500cc air-cooled boxer twin that BMW built for touring and sidecar work. Its two cylinders stick out either side of the engine, and the Earles leading-link fork gives the front end a look of its own. Shaft drive and that fork suit it to sidecar work. This one is a motorcycle and sidecar outfit in gloss black, with pinstriping applied by hand and red upholstery in the sidecar. It has been restored and is in very good condition. A Stieb sidecar is fitted, and the outfit has already worked on film productions. It carries up to three people, one of them in the sidecar. The black and red read cleanly on camera, which suits photography, fashion and editorial shoots. The 1960 lines suit period film, TV and music video, and the sidecar puts a second person in frame for adverts and events. A couple can arrive at a wedding in it too. It is based in Suffolk.
